I know you've already heard the news, [link] but this isn't about sharing news.

Rather, this is kind of a PSA, and I think any of my friends & watchers who actually like anime need to read this.

Even if you don't like the current Toonami line-up, I implore you- no- I BEG you to watch it. (and get your friends in on the action too!)

As srs bsns as this sounds, this is probably anime's last chance to "redeem" itself in the eye of network execs here in the states. (and by redeem, I mean prove that it can pull in good ratings, and it CAN be profitable, and anime isn't a complete waste of air time and money in the eyes of business folk)

Heck, partly why adult swim treats anime fans as badly as they do is because we can be so dang fickle sometimes @__@

Adult Swim: *takes Inuyasha off the air*
fans: What're you doing?! PUT IT BACK ON!! RAAAAAGE!!!
adult swim: *puts it back on the air*
fans: *don't bother watching it

^rinse and repeat :I

I'm not saying everything is 100% our fault, (there's oodles of factors contributing to the poor overall sucess of anime here in the states) but we need to make good on our word. We hounded adult swim to bring back toonami after the whole April Fools thing, and they actually listened to us. Lets not disappoint them, okay?

Besides: more views = more ratings = more money = better line-up = more fans!

Don't let this attempt at redemption be a miserable failure. We can do this guys!! ; u ;

That was the best April Fools day ever. I was like
"Oh god... my childhood... you bastards better not be joking... I swear, if this is a-IT'S TOM! ;_____;"

I missed him so much... back when Cartoon Network kicked ass. Then they started in with that Miguzi(sp?) crap and then they moved Toonami to ONCE a week. And then they changed Tom so he looked more like Thomas the Train instead of his usual bad-ass self. I don't think the lineup was that impressive at that point, but when I heard Tom's farewell... a part of me died.

Kinda sucks they won't be airing the uncut Yu Yu Hakusho or some of the older stuff like Outlaw Star (I forgot how much I liked that show), but it'll be nice to see new stuff. I wish they'd still give Durarara, though. I think it only went through one run on Adult Swim (almost at the end of the 2nd). I've been meaning to watch Deadman Wonderland, but I wanted to read the manga first... which is hard, since Tokyopop went under and they never finished publishing it. Been a while since I've heard anything about them.

Same, I missed TOM too ;__; I mean, I understand that his look DOES change, but then...as you said- He went all Thomas the Tank Engine on us XD;;;; The worst part about it was that the line-up gradually became shorter and it wasn't even any good @__@ So when it ended, it was just...painful... (But yeah- I'm just repeating what you said XD)

But hey- They MIGHT air uncut Yu Yu Hakusho, Outlaw Star, and maybe even get DRRR back, but we need to support this incarnation of Toonami so they can actually afford shows like that. If we can keep it flowing nice and steady, then we'd totally see those shows again! I'm sure of it! :D (Even if it might take a long time)

It really seemed like it was being more directed at kids, too, and some of the choices weren't even anime. I think the only thing I actually WANTED to watch was Rurouni Kenshin, and they let that go pretty quick.

I actually have Yu Yu Hakusho on DVD (still have to watch the final season) but it's nice catching familiar stuff on TV. I don't remember much about Witch Hunter Robin, but I wanna see that again for some reason. I'm all for new shows, though... Nothing against Cowboy Bebop, Big O, and FLCL, but they've been giving the crap out of them. Especially FLCL, since it's so short (I wonder how many runs it's been through).

Cartoon Network really has been doing good things lately. Adventure Time, Regular Show, and the Amazing World of Gumball all won me over, and then they have Cartoon Planet on Fridays (I usually forget to watch, but it's still cool), and now this. Nickelodeon is essentially dead to me. The only thing that makes me remember it even exists is the Legend of Korra, and they can't even give repeats at consistent timeslots.

Well, Toonami was always made with kids in mind- they just did it in a really, really cool way XD

and I know what you mean! My big sis has all of YYH on DVD too, (back when she had to collect the singles one by one as they came out...AND TRUST ME, THAT TOOK FOREVER. I used to worry like OMG YOU HAVE A PROBLEM because there were so many!!) but yeah, watching it on TV is fun too! It gives ya warm fuzzies and you know that someone out there is watching it live, too!

I liked Witch Hunter robin but it was always a little dull for me. In fact my favorite parts were always when they were at HQ just hanging out, or when Robin was talking with that somewhat effeminate bartender guy. I liked him and the token nerd on their team! They were fun : o

New shows are always good though! It'll keep things nice and fresh! Personally, if I had to choose what new shows to air, it'd probably be Tiger & Bunny, Madoka, Baccano, Panty & Stocking....I know most of those shows are either too adult or too violent, but I think they have that coolness factor XD (as did Durarara)

And agreed ; u ; I really like where Cartoon Network is going, (Though...I wish they'd Ax that Level Up show. Don't you just LOVE how its basically "three gamers and one friend" and the FRIEND/non-gamer is, of course, a girl? That alone is enough to make me wanna groan in disdain) their shows have been winning me over too!

But yeah, Nick...if it weren't for Korra I would really not give a darn XD'

Yeah, it was good for kids, but it was also appealing to the older audiences. I know I can't like everything, but it seemed like after Toonami moved, they didn't pick the best shows and it lost its "appeal".

I don't think I was ever able to do that. Boxsets are way too nice, and they take up less space and don't cost so much (I think). That and there's always the LE ones... but those usually cost twice as much.

Yeah, it kinda reminded me of Blood+. Not always a crapton of action, but it was interesting. Kinda surprised that GITS still gets aired as much. It's not bad, but it's a bit hard to follow at times.

I've been meaning to check out Tiger & Bunny but there are so many anime I've gotta finish. I'd be a bit iffy on them giving Madoka. I'd love to see it aired, but I'm afraid that it wouldn't do very good, which would be a shame. I'd imagine the casual viewers would be all "WTF is this girly crap?" and not give it a fair shake. I'm sure hype and curiousity would help it, but I don't want to see it fail just because some Adult Swim viewers are so freaking stupid. Back when Durarara was announced, I was reading some of the comments and some of them were really pissing me off because they were so anti-anime and crap. =__=

I can't even bring myself to watch the show... it looks terrible. And yeah, that chick annoys me so much in the commercials. I'd really like to see that, Mad TV, and Johnny Test go. Oh yeah, coolest thing, they gave Home Movies as soon as Adult Swim started. If they do this every Saturday too, it'll make me so happy. One of Adult Swims first, and best cartoons. ~w~

They didn't even give a new episode today! I was happy to sleep in... but still!

Well, I'm not saying the girl in Level Up seems annoying- its just that I find it seriously problematic that the writers would make the only female character...the only NON-gamer. How sexist is that??

But yeah- for YYH, Its much cheaper to get the box sets, but back in the day box sets were either wicked-expensive, or were only done for certain series. At least that's what it seemed like. Nowadays EVERYTHING is in box sets XD But thanks to the internet, I can plan buying certain series in advance! (Since it'll usually take me 2 months for me to save up for one set)

Tiger & Bunny is totally worth makin' time for, but I totally understand what you mean

For Madoka- I think the cool fight scenes, dark plot, violence, Mami's boobies, and the Les-Yay would probably be enough to draw in dude audiences. But then again, Japan's idea of Seinen Show's and America's idea of Seinen show is kind of different. The US is still very much anti-cute and anti-feminine x__x (and I hate anti-anime comments so I don't even wanna know what people said about DRRR @__@)

and lol I wound up staying up for Korra, only to find a rerun XD I STAYED UP FOR NOTHING!

What really bothered me was when they'd show the commercial with them all playing and she's all "Let's rock this thing, nerds!" I know people can say that thing and not be jerks about it, but it's like "You're holding a freaking controller too, you know..."

Now that I think about it, the first YYH boxset was rather pricey compared to today. I think I got it for $80+? Anyways, the stupid thing was labeled "Uncut" but 2~3 of the dvds were the censored versions. =/ Stupuid internet told me about the Madoka LE boxsets and yeah......

I do plan to check it out, but I hate it when I get backlogged on anime because then I can't keep up with new things. I tried to for a few shows this season, but the subbing group I followed decided to be slow for once, and they've been behind ever since. That and I'm so horrible with names that I forget between weekly releases;;

Mami's mammies do have a certain power... I think the more close-minded people would tune out before the end of Ep 3, when it really shows its true nature. But then again, that's part of the appeal. That and I think some people would see it and think "Adult Swim chose to air this? What's the catch?"

I had to do some digging, since the Mediacom guide said "New" but gave the description for the first episode. Sure enough, I have trouble sleeping, so I could've caught it if I had stayed up for 2 more hours. >:
